Long Summary:
A high level meeting of the
military's top people convenes to discuss options on re-capturing Kauai (Cobra Island). The idea of a nuclear strike is accepted if
Hawk's plan to send in the Joe team fails. The
focus moves to Duke as an initiate to Cobra. The Baroness extracts an oath
from Duke that he would die for Cobra. Beachhead continues his sabotage
of Cobra forces by blowing up an A-10 and fuel tanker on a Cobra
airstrip. Col. Hawk assembles his team for the infiltration of Cobra Island. The team consists of Snake Eyes (sent ahead of
the rest), Scarlett, and the new recruits:
Shipwreck, Airtight, Flint, and
Mainframe. Scarlett and Hawk discuss what
should be done regarding Duke. Hawk leaves it that he is a Cobra now
and should be treated as all Cobras are treated – they can be killed in
combat, taken alive if they surrender. Roadpig
hassles Duke and is defeated by him in a small skirmish. Destro walks into the Baroness watching surveillance of
Duke's encounter. He questions her interest and the situation morphs
into "a bit of loveplay." Mainframe
communicates with Beachhead that the team is moving in. Duke on the
shooting range displays what might be considered second thoughts regarding
shooting a target of a friendly Army soldier. He resolves the conflict
within him, shooting the target. Roadpig plots
his revenges. Snake Eyes makes a HALO jump to the island, the rest of
the team infiltrates by subterfuge aboard a boat. The Brass tells Col.
Hawk that his team has only twelve hours before the nuclear option is used.
