G.I. JOE’S SCARLETT FEATURED IN SOLO ONE-SHOT THIS JULY

ARTIST PHIL NOTO JOINS THE RANKS

Chicago, IL –April 17th, 2006 – This July, Devil’s Due Publishing, Inc. (DDP) reveals the popular G.I. JOE heroine’s never-before-seen origins in G.I. JOE SCARLETT: DECLASSIFIED (MAY063081 E)! Shana O’Hara, the crimson haired, crossbow wielding, G.I. JOE code-named SCARLETT, is no damsel in distress. A premier member of G.I. JOE, SCARLETT’S pre-military days have remained unrevealed throughout her accomplished career –until now! Follow the heroine’s transformation from young martial arts disciple in Atlanta, Georgia to G.I. JOE counter intelligence agent!

G.I. JOE SCARLETT: DECLASSIFIED (MAY063081 E), a one-shot, 48 page, full color comic book hitting shelves in July, is written by Mike O’Sullivan (G.I. JOE SPECIAL MISSIONS, G.I. JOE: DATA DESK HANDBOOK) and illustrated by PHIL NOTO (Beautiful Killer, Danger Girl), and carries a $4.95 cover price. G.I. JOE is under license from the Hasbro Properties Group, the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS).

“I’m beyond excited to be working with former Danger Girl comic book artist Phil Noto on SCARLETT’S origin story,” says G.I. JOE SCARLETT: DECLASSIFIED writer Mike O’Sullivan. “Noto began his career as an animator for Disney, working on such films as The Lion King and Lilo & Stitch, and went on to become one of comics’ most striking and elegant talents. He draws SCARLETT the way she should be elegant, approachable, but still lethal!”

“Fans are eager for past details on their G.I. JOE favorites, and SCARLETT tops the list,” says Devil’s Due President Josh Blaylock. “After the revelations in SNAKE-EYES: DECLASSIFIED and G.I. JOE: DECLASSIFIED, divulging the origin of SCARLETT is one of DDP’s top priorities.”

Glad to see the Declassified series is continuing. :D Wonder how long it will be before we get the Zartan one? I just hope they do his as a mini series and not a one shot. They also need to get to work on that "missing" year mini series.

I love this Idea.

And don't get me wrong on the next point I am going to make, cause I think this is truely great idea. Cool that Sullivan has written it.

BUT WHY RELEASE THIS IN JULY????

With issue #13 of AE, and the new Hama Series starting the month before, why release this then. It seems like it would be such a popular idea (and surprising that nobody on the boards suggested it) that it will sell well, and seems a natural follow up to GI Joe & Snake-Eyes Declassified. And should come after Hama's.

It isn't going to get near the PR that #13 and Declassified are going to get, it will get lost in the mix. Just my concern.

I can't wait to buy it and the alternate cover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh...I guess they are planning on leaving Scarlett out of the Declassified series....and yes, I'm just joking. Gotta love that "until now" tag!

Actually I thought this was a joke when I first read it, but looking at that cover, this book is going to Rock and hopefully pull some Danger Girl fans over to the DD table.

Awesome.

I was thinking that they might have did this as a way to fill the gap between GI Joe: Declassified #1 and #2. Since that series is bimonthly. Maybe we might see another Declassified one shot scheduled for the month between issues #2 and #3 as well. :D Let us all hope they do.

That is an excellent cover and I think truly captures how she should look... at least as a young woman. That face strikes me as the type that will apear all cute and sweet, but you know that if she let loose, she'd really mess you up.

I'm really looking forward to this. I hope that we see a long string of "Declassified" projects.

I do like the cover and wonder what we will see of Scarlett's life before meeting Snake eyes and GI Joe. For instance, its been said that she doesn't get along with her sister, so maybe it'll be explained why they don't have very much of a relationship.

Yeah, that's something I've wanted to see since looking back at the old Marvel issues. This should give some insight into their sibling rivalry. :)

Like Hellstrom said, I think they want to alternate single Declassified issues with Hama's series... or at least, that's what I'm hoping...

Anyway, great cover! I wonder if it would look better with a black background though.

This is very cool news indeed! I like the cover as well. Very cool, captures the character quite nicely.

I like that they're giving her a one shot declassified. We don't need a mini series for her I don't think. And this opens the door for future declassifieds. DD can taylor the length to the character. One shots for relatively minor characters or characters that have a lot of overlap with other more important characters, and mini series' where they need to cover more ground.

Good stuff!! :)
