Thanks for finding this. Sounds like it'll have a really mature flair to it, which should satisfy the trigger-happy sadists on this board!
I got a kick out of his "Moscow" comment.
I find it funny that he said Hasbro was surprisingly easy to work with, considering that we've been hearing the exact opposite from Devil's Due for the past 4 or so years. (A PR spin? New Hasbro execs to deal with? Why?)

From what I understand there are multiple offices in the GI Joe department, so while there is one office that works with DDP, there might be another that handles the cartoon. Hasbro has many faces....
(If I am wrong someone please correct me.)

Sounds awesome! I look forward to seeing it. It will be nice to see G.I. Joe "grow up" a little in the cartoon world. Don't get me wrong, the G.I. Joe cartoon is what got me hooked as a kid, but it doesn't scratch the itch like it used to. Anyone remember the episode "The Viper Cometh", when it turned out to be a window cleaner? Ya, doesn't quite entertain like it used to.

Could you provide references for it EVER entertaining?
hahahaha I kill me.
No, wait, RABID CARTOON FANS kill me.
To me my secret service ninjas!
Seriously tho, am happy to hear it. Sounds like a hoot.
But it will be just my luck that they limit it to US viewers.
I hate it when they do that.

The approval is probably out of one office (or maybe Licensing plus Legal), but it may be a lot of different people over time.
Peter David wrote at length years ago in his CBG column about working with the approving entity for licensed-properties: when it's not working, it can be pretty painful. Sometimes it's a power trip on the part of the approver, or it's the scut work they give to the new guy, or you never see the same name twice...
Not saying Hasbro is anything like this (because I have no idea), but in general makes sense that if you don't have a really solid, collaborative working relationship, it could turn into all sorts of crummy.

I feel that way NOW. But for a 5-8 year old kid, it rocked! I sure hope they put a teaser trailer for the new cartoon on the internet.

Ahhh, I see.
I was about 12 when the show came out, so I was past it.
I remember getting angry when I read the interview with someone from the cartoon in Yearbook #1("They don't take this cartoon seriously!')
I mean, yeah I watched it, but I never really liked it.
I remember discussing the first 5 part series with 2 friends and they way we tried to pretend it was cool.
Ahhh, youth.

See I liked it, but mostly because I find it legitimately funny. (Similar to other Marvel studios cartoons at the time like "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends." They even share the same jazzy "club" music whenever Firestar or Breaker turns on the radio. )
My girlfriend didn't believe me that in one episode (MASS Device part 5)
Cobra Commander tries to slip past the Joes by holding a waste basket over his head. She got a huge laugh out of that.
But anyways, back on topic (Curse you Hebime!!! ) Do you think they'll finally give Cobra Commander a different style of speech? I mean, sure Chris Latta was iconic with the high pitched rasping and hissing, but everyone that's tried to imitate him since his death (CGI Movies and S6) have sounded awful. Personally I think it might be time to give him a much lower pitched methodical type of speech. Someone like Jeremy Irons. (Scar from the "Lion King" if you can't remember any of his work.)

Have they mentionned the artist(s)? Can the animation be based on Templesmith's art I read that Ellis and him work together and Templesmith is doing the incentive cover for ANB #0.
Am I the first one to use ANB?

Cmon, D&D, Die Hard with a Vengence, Eragon, Man in the Iron Mask......but I think hed be more suited for Destro, or the Baron, unless you wanna go with the Baron as the early CC.
