I was going to avoid the adaptations, but my shop pulled them for me, and I always feel too uncomfortable putting it back on the shelf. That said, so far it's better than I would have thought! Ripcord's dialogue is actually funny and realistic, I always preferred the "Action Force" approach of GI Joe as an international team, and since it's sort of a reloaded take on the Joes, I was actually surprised here and there. The action is good, and Destro and the Baroness seem to have the makings of good antogonists in the story.
I'm just ignoring "the Doctor" and his weird mask (seriously, did anyone out there prefer cover A to cover B with the Baroness?), and I'm in the camp that thinks that nanites are deux ex machina and a little too far out there.
So, maybe the comic-book naturally downplays the things I'm sort of dreading about the movie (crazy unbelievable CGI effects, horrible costumes, and heavy-handed dialogue/delivery). Snake-Eyes is still played a little too clumsily, as is his rivalry with Stormshadow. I'm also annoyed with Scarlett graduating college at 12 (probably cured cancer, was the first woman to visit Mars, and met Snake-Eyes while volunteering at a puppy shelter after breaking up with Doogie Howser, MD), but I think I'm in the minority as far as how that sort of thing takes me out of a story.
Anyway, I'm rambling, but I'll close by saying again that I was surprised how good (or not bad) the first two issues were.
