So, I was reading through this cool interview on yojoe.com with Wren Roberts, the actor who played Duke in the early 90s commercials:

and there is a link to a commercial where Duke gets brainwashed by Destro and is a member of Cobra at the end:

If you freeze on one of the final frames, I think this Cobra-Duke in a black outfit looks a lot like Reloaded Duke of issue 14's cover. My comic is currently in another location, so I can't check inside though.

I wonder if Dixon or someone from DDP could share on that coincidence, or whether it is one... :?:

well, black T-Shirt anyway.
My gut is to say 'No, probably not' but given a certain individual's obsession with the cartoon, you can't rule anything out based on camp. :|

*swish*
3 points!

I can just see him in a brainstorming session:
"You know wasn't Duke a Cobra once? Like in black, with a big stick or something?'
Mouths swing open, then shut, as people remember payday is tomorrow and SOMEBODY has to sign the checks.

"Uhm, Yeah, sure Josh whatever, let's make Duke a Cobra'

"In black...with a whomping stick!'

'Sure.......'

Thankfully they managed to convince him to drop the whomping stick.

Seriously tho', it was a pretty good twist. I enjoyed seeing the cartoon zombies precious Duke turned into a bad guy.

I don't remember ever seeing any of those commercials.
Wasn't watching much tv during those years.
