After re-reading Reloaded...man, did Beach Head rock in this series! If you are a fan of Beach Head, you HAVE to check out this often overlooked and under rated series! I only hope that IDW would maybe let Dixon lay down a few more stories for this series at some point (highly doubtful...but one can hope!).

I totally concur.
Beach Head was the one character from Reloaded that could probably carry his own book. From the first issue to the last his character was the one that remained consistently awesome.

Gotta agree with you guys. He was my favourite character from the series, was involved with some of my favourite moments (alone on the island was probably my favourtie part, then the laser designation with Snake Eyes). REALLY hoping some of his characterisation carries over into the new series Ben

I agree as well. I liked the way Beach Head was revised from the obvious cartoon persona seen in the DDP run. In Reloaded, he was far more likeable as a character. I loved it that he put Duke & Lady Jaye in their places and was a sidekick to Snake Eyes. Oddly, Beac Head, Snake Eyes & Hawk were the only Reloaded Joes whose parent units were never revealed. At least with the rank of Master Chief, the implication is that he's in the Navy; in the Marvel run, I wondered why he was codenamed BeachHead when he's an Army Ranger-and Beach Head is more appropos for a US Marine. I hope IDW will revive the Reloaded series.

Go read up on the Rangers part of the D-Day operations, and in the Pacific. Then do a comparision of the number of Army personnel vs. the number of Marines that participated/held the beach head during World War II....the stats might suprise you.

As a U.S. History junkie, I really appreciate you sharing that, Phil. I did not know that!

In regards to Beach Head I think a reason he's considered cooler in Reloaded is that John Ney Rieber & Chuck Dixon kept true to his base personality as written by Larry. I wonder though how BH would've developed had Mr. Rieber remained as writer or if Reloaded continued. I liked his ruthlessness towards Cobra & his fighting to the last attitude -w/c embodies GI Joe (remember the cartoon theme? "He never gives up/He stays till the fight's won/Only GI Joe would dare! I also wondered if Mr. Rieber meant Scarlett to be eventually paired with Beach Head. In Reloaded #3 Scarlett assured Doc that Beach Head (who's grilling a Street Viper) that... "Deep down Beach Head's really a sweet guy!" I liked that!

Beachhead was never a character I liked, but turned out to be the only real standout character in Reloaded. I think he could have carried the book the way Snakeeyes carries all the other books had it continued. The issues with Beachhead stranded in Hawaii were my fave of the series.

That's it. I'm gonna go back and read Reloaded. It's been too long.
