I think Scarlett in the this story is truely going to prove how much of a badass see truely is.

This is before all the SE history, when she was just a fighting machine, like the rest of Joes.

And it will be interesting to see her family history.

That art style really fits the Scarlett story - should be a kick-ass book.

Holidays ALWAYS delay the weekly comic shipments by one day. Diamond comics distributors was closed Monday and I assume UPS was as well. Only place not affected by this are places like Canada.

So what'd you guys think? I really enjoyed this story! I wasn't too crazy at first about it being narrated all along, but when I realized she was telling the story to Snake-Eyes on the ferry, it felt right.

Huh, they didn't mention if her being called O'Hara had anything to do with being sent to Ireland.

I loved the art, especially the retro scenes, once or twice, I even thought there was an actual hair on my comic, but it turned out to be old pellicule imitation! Amazing! The black and white frames worked well too.

I loved the scenes when Scarlett is biting her lip. Loved the crossbow scene!

Destro was quite elegant too.

So Spark's real name is... Alex?

Okay, time to make a few comments.
1) The artwork for this issue is great for the most part. However, I do have a problem with the "dirty" look to some of it. I know this was done intentionally, but I think it works better in film then in a comic book.
2) There has been some debate on the inclusion of the Iron Grenadiers and I honestly don't mind the way it was done. Much has been said about this retcon and I don't mind retconning as long as you can find a good way to do it and that isn't too much of a stretch for the reader to believe. In my opinion it works fine here. Characters, when they appear for the first time in the book, have a backstory and have been around long before we first see them on the page.
3) How Scarlett got her codename was a no brainer and soooooo obvious that I don't see how else it could have been done.
4) Is it just me or did Scarlett have an aweful lot of schooling? By my calculations she should be in her mid to late 20's when she joined the Joe team just from the time she spent doing all of that training. (Plus we don't know how long she spent as a lawyer before she quit that line of work.) I don't know how each bit of that schooling and training takes so feel free to share details with me and fill me in if my guess is wrong.
5) Someone over at the DD boards also complained about Destro not appearing in his v1 outfit and I personally am glad he didn't. I can't stand that look. I like the gold mask outfit and DD's redesign from Reinstated. (Even although that was technically Alexander.) That "barechested" outfit can vanish forever in my opinion. Destro looks fine in this issue.
6) I think the crossbow as Scarlett's weapon of choice was just Mike's convenant way of expaining the weapon that Hasbro gave her. She likes it and that is why she chooses it when there are other weapons better suited for the job. (As someone mentioned over at the DD boards.)
7) I didn't catch the Rainbow 6 referance until reading it in a post because I didn't know R6's real name. How cool is that when the company producing the book uses you in the book? (Even if it's to kill you. )
8- You know... I really like the way this was tied into SE: Declassified. At first I thought it was just another of those comics where the character is talking to the reader and then I see the last page and it all makes sense. Very nice!
Well, this was a better read then I expected and I can't wait until Dreadnok's Declassified hits stores. 8) Now where are all the other posts about this issue? Mine are already a week late.

Well I liked the book. It was nice to see her relationship with her father develop and the book as a narritive was nice too. I think I like SE Declassified better. I can't wait for a Drednok story. Then maybe there will be a Storm Shadow story.

Well, I just re-read it. It was great-and a definite improvement over Snake Eyes Declassified. Everything dovetailed nicely with what Larry established in Marvel's GI JOE. Plus we even got to see Snake Eyes. :) I hope all succeding GI JOE Declassified books get this same level of detail.
Scarlett Declassified is just as good as DD's ongoing GI JOE Declassified.
And yeah, Julian, its cool to be noted in a Joe book. Like MissBehave in DD's GI JOE 26, Derryl DePriest in FL 13, and Generals Horn and Renegart in J/Tf I 4, I'm in good company. LOL! I hope DD uses "Me" again when they re visit Shana's past. Just as long as I ain't a villain or like Mike Collins form the cartoons. :)

I still haven't read it yet, because it didn't make it into my box and I wasn't pleased with that. So, I'm totally lost on this Rainbow 6 thing...??

I finally got my copy in the mail today and I really enjoyed it. Noto's artwork in this book reminds of Frank Miller or John Romita Jr., but more evolved.

It was a little weird to see Scarlett's backstory modernized, but at the same time, everything made sense to me - except the lawyer thing. The real world reasoning in me asks - why would the Army ever allow someone with a law degree to be in the enlisted ranks? They would have made her an officer and stuck her in an admin or intelligent staff position. But then she wouldn't be Scarlett, would she? Despite all that, the story was just the right length. The flashback device (in the form of talking to Snakes) was used well.

Finally this issue was in my box. Read it and enjoyed it through and through although I did think that Scarlett would have been quite old when she joined the Joes as well. The art wasn't really my first choice but I did like it in this one shot, but I wouldn't really want to see it week after week. It fit this story.

I had read the script numerous times, but it was nice to finally see this issue in print. I think Mike did an excellent job on the book and he was very open to some suggestions I made along the way.

So in SCARLETT : DECLASSIFIED I believe we have our first official US COMIC appearance of Quarrel. Check Scarlett Declassified out first and then go read/look the two pages of Comic pages/ story I posted here:

I enjoyed it.....DERRR......heh.....

What's so funny to me is that I took some major points of Scarlett's 'original' filecard/comic/toon appearance's and just re-wrote her to suit my Joeverse.......

But I still get a kick out of reading how everyone else looks at her......
